- Columbia County Mental Health's Trish Tyler and Heather Petersen with National Alliance on Mental Illness's Judy Thompson are organizers for the event.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and you can help stomp out stigma at the fifth annual Columbia County Mental Health Fair and NAMIWalk.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, Columbia County Mental Health has partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to raise awareness about mental health and available resources at a fair in McCormick Park, located at 475 S. 18th St. in St. Helens.
Featuring characters from Pixar’s “Inside Out”, the event will bring mental health professionals, advocates and support organizations for attendees to connect with. There will also be activities to enjoy, such as a petting zoo, face painting and contest for the best “Inside Out” costume.
At 11 a.m., community members are invited to walk together for a mile in the NAMIWalk, led by Portland Trail Blazers mascot Douglas Fur. Participants in the walk will be joined by others in planned walks across the country.
